Dual Head Nuclear Scan

The Department of Nuclear Medicine is the latest in the armoury of the imaging facilities available at MIOT Hospitals.

 

Cutting Edge Equipment

The Department is equipped with a sophisticated dual head Gamma camera with an advanced workstation. Nuclear scans are done routinely here. Nuclear scans are simple and non invasive and are highly valuable in investigating the functional capacity of a diseased organ (liver, kidney, etc.).

Renal Scan (DTPA & DMSA)

The Department is also authorised to use Radionuclide for the following

Radio lodine therapy for Hyperthyroidism, Cancer Thyroid

Metastatic bone pain relief using 89 Strontium, 153 Samarium and 32 Phosphorous

32P therapy for Polycythemia Vera

 

The Nuclear Medicine Department strictly follows radiation protection rules in accordance with the regulatory authority guidelines.
