The Department of Neurosurgery, MIOT Hospitals, is headed by Dr. U.S. Srinivasan, M.Ch. Chief Neurosurgeon, Member of the Asian Conference of Neurological Surgeons - Japan and International Member of Congress of Neurological Surgeons – USA, with over 15 years of experience in performing more than 2000 major neurosurgical procedures with excellent outcomes.

 

On an average around 200 major neurosurgical procedures are being performed every year with a success rate of above 98% and zero percent infection rate.
 

 

Procedures Performed
Brain Cancer: Microsurgical, Endoscopic and Stereotactic excision of brain tumors like Gliomas, Meningiomas, Skull base tumors, Posterior fossa tumors, Pituitary Tumors, Intraventricular tumors.

 

Brain Hemorrhage: Clipping of the Aneurysm, Evacuation of Intracerebral Hemorrhages, Surgery for Stroke. Aneurysms are coiled by the interventional radiologist.

 

Functional Neurosurgery: Various types of surgery for chronic intractable pain including cancer pain.


Trigeminal Neuralgia: Microvascular decompression, Retrogasserian ganglion glycerol injection.

 

Spine lesions: Microdiscectomies for disc prolapse, excision of spinal cord tumours, repair of spinal birth defects. Artificial Cervical Disc replacement has been recently started.

Craniovertebral junction anomalies like Basilar invagination, Atlanto-arial; dislocation, Dens fracture and Arnold ChiariMalformation are being operated. Various stabilization procedures for CV Junction are also being performed.

 

Head injuries and its sequel are being managed.
