Hip Replacement

The Department Of Hip Arthroplasty
Miot occupies a special place in hip surgery in India. Prof. PVA Mohandas, the founder of Miot, carried out the first total hip replacement in India, in the early 70’s. We therefore have the richest experience in joint arthroplasty, having performed over 20,000 such operations in the last thirty years. We now perform a wide range of procedures from resurfacing to revision hip replacements. All our operations are performed via the muscle sparing mini posterior approach. This means that all our patients walk on the same day as their surgery and their recovery is faster than with traditional techniques. We have a team of dedicated joint replacement surgeons who perform not only straightforward primary joint replacement surgery but also complicated acetabular reconstruction, correction of congenital deformities, lengthening of the limb in a diseased hip and reconstruction of the joint following injury. Dr Barry D’Rosario, Dr Kesavan and Dr Prithvi have all received training worldwide. They have each spent six months every year during their formative period in hospitals dedicated to joint arthroplasty in Germany, Switzerland, U.K., Italy and Australia. They have done exclusively joint arthroplasty and nothing else for the last five years of their practice, making them masters of this art.

The Miot philosophy is ‘A JOINT FOR LIFE.’

We would like to promise our patients that the joint we give them, will last a lifetime.
